Energy & Rare Minerals
Pakistan has growing potential in rare earths, uranium, and lithium, along with vast coal and sulfur reserves critical for energy security and future strategic materials demand.
While still under-explored, Pakistan’s rare earth and energy minerals are drawing increased attention for their strategic and future-oriented value. Regions such as Dera Ghazi Khan and Karak contain uranium, while pegmatite belts are being surveyed for lithium and rare earth elements (REEs)—crucial for electric vehicles, defense, and high-tech industries. Pakistan also has substantial coal (Thar, Lakhra) and sulfur deposits, important for local energy and fertilizer production. Globally, as countries compete for secure access to future-critical materials, Pakistan is emerging as a potential frontier for exploration, especially under foreign joint ventures, geophysical studies, and long-term extraction rights.
