Pink Salt

As part of our diversified natural resource portfolio, Vale & Ore owns and operates its own Himalayan Pink Salt mining operation located in the Salt Range of Northern Pakistan, one of the oldest and purest halite deposits in the world. Our site sits atop a Permian-era sedimentary basin, containing high-purity halite formed over 250 million years ago under tectonic compression and evaporitic conditions.

Our pink salt is extracted using mechanized room-and-pillar mining techniques, ensuring:

The salt is processed through a multi-stage cleaning and grading system, including:

Primary crushing
Dust removal and sieving
Magnetic separation (to eliminate ferrous impurities)
Optical color sorting (for aesthetic and culinary grades)

HACCP compliance for edible grade
Bulk mineral export documentation (E-Form M) for large-scale shipments
